About Guess the News
Guess the News is a daily word game built on real news headlines. Every day, one real headline appears with a single word blanked out — your job is to guess it.
The story
Guess the News started as a simple idea: make keeping up with the news a little more fun. The daily headlines can feel relentlessly grim and heavy — yet there's always something genuinely interesting happening that gets drowned out in all the noise.
So this is a small game about finding those stories — the surprising, the delightful, the huh-I-didn't-know-that — and turning them into a quick two-minute puzzle. A bit of lightness and enjoyment in the middle of your day, one headline at a time.
How it works
- Every morning, headlines are pulled from trusted outlets (PBS, NYT, NPR, CNN, The Washington Post).
- Each day, the most interesting headline is chosen and a single word is blanked out.
- You guess — with hot/cold feedback (❄️ → 🔥), optional hints, and a Wordle-style share card.
- A fresh puzzle drops every day at midnight Eastern.
